Things to Do
Set in 156 acres of tranquility, visitors have a wonderful opportunity to observe wildlife and birds in their natural setting.
This area is home to a wide variety of wildlife. Moose, elk, and deer are a common sight especially along the highway, so please drive carefully. Black bears and coyotes can also be seen frequently at lower elevations; grizzly bears, wolves and cougars are occasionally seen at the higher levels. Along the banks of the Moyie River, Bald Eagles are common sights in the large cotton-wood trees. Occasional sightings of the rare Pilated Woodpecker contribute to this area being a bird watchers paradise.
Summer

The Ktunaxa Nation of the Lowery Kootenay have an Interpretation Centre just south of Creston where the visitor can learn of their history and culture. There is also a wide selection of locally made First Nations' Arts and Crafts.
The scenic drive along the east shore of the Kootenay Lake, north of Creston. passes through the Artisans Village at Crawford Bay on its way to the Kootenay Lake ferry. This ferry is the longest free ferry ride in the world!
10 km's west of Creston is the Creston Valley Wildlife Management Area and Interpretive Centre. This 17,000 acre site is an internationally recognized Ramsar wetland and is one of the brightest bird watching jewels in all of North America. Winter
Enjoy the winter land wonderland that is Goatfell. Average annual snowfall of 10-12ft create perfect conditions to enjoy snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, etc.
